You know what just recently I was trying to think that somehow recently “India” related stories are popping up on Techmeme. Not much that anybody will s*it up and notice but still. Maybe because Michael Arrington’s guys put up a couple of posts or Robert Scoble shared something (?) or Kara Swisher putting up a “search”. Or just because Times of India and Indian Express are built on “site structures” which Techmeme can easily crawl
So, I tried this search on Google - india site:techmeme.com
Now this assumed that wherever any Indian city is mentioned, it is mentioned alongside the word India. (you know how it is right - 50o kms from Delhi in India, 4 hours train journey from Mumbai, India and such)
However I tried these also on google for safer side - mumbai, delhi, etc. for site:techmeme.com
Not much results as expected.
Now I am seeing that suddenly Techmeme has introduced Search feature.
Wow
So how does India fare on Techmeme ?
http://www.techmeme.com/search/query?q=india&wm=false
leads to 228 results. Impressive right ?
mumbai ?
http://www.techmeme.com/search/query?q=mumbai&wm=false
19 results.
delhi ?
http://www.techmeme.com/search/query?q=delhi&wm=false
22 results. Aha !
bangalore ?
http://www.techmeme.com/search/query?q=bangalore&wm=false
31 results. Great
Okay maybe I should remove the tick mark of Search title & summary only and search for India on Techmeme
http://www.techmeme.com/search/query?q=india
1130 results. Wow !
Can anyone tell me are these good results ? What are your opinions ? Mind you Alexa shows that Techmeme visitors from India comprise only 2.4% of the total site visitors. (How accurate is that ? What about RSS readers ?)
Hence probably the results are right. No Indian stories. No Indian visitors. Or is it the other way round ?
