I was preparing to reformat my machine last night and install Ubuntu 8.10. I made sure I had all my key data backed up to a USB drive and that I had Windows Server 2008 ready to install in Virtualbox so that I could continue my Windows development efforts. I also confirmed I had my newly acquired free CodeWeavers CrossOver license handy so that I could reload a couple Windows games.
Then I realized I was doing it wrong. See all that Windows stuff I just mentioned?
One could argue that if I’m that concerned about having all my Windows-based tools handy, I’m clearly not quite ready to make the switch. One could counter that by pointing out what better way than (almost) total immersion to truly convert?
As for the 32bit or 64bit thing I mentioned last week? Based on a trial run with 64bit I think I’ll just take the slacker’s way out and go 32bit for this first incarnation. Assuming I convert, that is. Which, even as I write this, is pretty likely… I think…
