9 Steps to Prioritize Nonprofit Social Media Training and Experimentation

Here's my contribution to this month's Net2ThinkTank question posed by Amy Sample Ward,

"What are the key questions nonprofit orgs should ask to help them determine how to prioritize social media training and experimentation as they do their technology and organization-strengthening planning?"

1. What are the goals you are trying to achieve this year?

2. Which social media tools could possibly help you achieve those goals?

Cultivating the Web - Interview with Diane Hatz from Sustainable Table

Diane Hatz I nerd out with Diane Hatz, founder of Sustainable Table, talking about the difference between Slow Food and sustainable food, the secrets behind making a viral video, and why she believes "you can tell people there's a problem, unless you can offer a solution."

Why isn’t Networking in Every Curriculum?

This afternoon I was invited to an incredible lunch and discussion with Indiana Business College. Indiana is well-known for having some of the finest schools in the country, and in the world, but the folks at IBC recognize that we’re in a rapidly changing world. They are making an aggressive push to ensure that they will stay ahead of the curve.

Are you troubled by Noobs?

One of the benefits (some people think it’s a curse) of being technically addicted, er… savvy, is that everyone else is always asking you for assistance. My good friend and fellow Hoosier, Patric aka Mr. Noobie, is fully prepared to take this load off of your shoulders! Patric has had a growing website, Noobie, over the last year but it’s newly revamped layout and launch is incredible!

Noobie, Inc. has a glossary, audio and video podcasts, articles and even events. Ever wonder what the differences between an iPhone and an iPod Touch are? Noobie, Inc. has the answers!

Reducing Barriers to Diversity in the Mental Health Field

Background

At the end of the last millennium, the U.S. Surgeon General reported that culture is a concept not limited to patients; clinicians view symptoms, diagnoses, and treatments in ways that sometimes diverge from their clients’ views, especially when the cultural backgrounds of the consumer and provider are dissimilar. “This divergence of viewpoints can create barriers to effective care. Clinicians and service systems, naturally immersed in their own cultures, have been ill-equipped to meet the needs of patients from different backgrounds and, in some cases, have displayed bias in the delivery of care" (Surgeon General’s Report, 1999).

Web 2.0 for Business Presentation

I just wanted to share my presentation that I did with Sharp Minds. We had some great local companies who were looking to learn how they could deploy blogging and social media in their efforts to promote their business. Not a lot here in the presentation - most of it was me talking, along with flipping back and forth between sites and the presentation.

It is a new Powerpoint/Keynote theme that I designed, though!
