It doesn’t get easier than this! Get out your Flip cameras and show your talents off on YouTube. The Consumer Electronics Association is having a judged contest for their Digital TV: Convert Now! Contest, giving away a 50″ HDTV, Sony Blu-Ray player and Pioneer Surround Sound system.

A Look at the Future of Video Advertising

Stanford University has released Zunavision, an interesting technology that allows the advertiser to dynamically add embed pictures or video into another video - even when the camera is in motion. Fascinating technology but I’m not sure it will be widely accepted given its intrusive nature. Perhaps if they don’t make the ads too blatant.

One promise of this type of technology may be for the movie industry to execute product placement in post production. That could provide a huge savings to the movie industry by not having to and film advertising opportunities ahead of time. As well, it would not require physical advertising material.

Sharing My Failures (and Successes?)

Hat tip to McGee’s Musings where I found the failure video. Thanks for inspiring this post!

Rarely do I meet a successful person that hasn’t had some disastrous failures behind them. Over the years, I’ve learned to measure my success differently than most. I’m successful because I’ve got 2 fantastic children who I’m incredibly proud of and who are already showing potential well beyond my achievements at half my age.

What’s your Internal Communication Strategy?

A hilarious video on internal marketing strategies. I always joke with people that a mechanic fixes his car last… I suppose the marketer often forgets to position their products and services internally before putting the word out!

BlueLock Video: Cloud Computing

Great interview and simple description of cloud computing on WishTV with my friend, Brian Wolff, at BlueLock.

It’s a fascinating technology that, I believe, will eventually encompass all of the Internet. If you’d like to read a great book on the future of cloud computing, I’d recommend Nicholas Carr’s The Big Switch.

Claytorial Tutorials: Customize your Marketing Message

I really enjoy Common Craft tutorials because they are both educational and entertaining, wrapped in a package that’s simple to understand.

Claytorial takes a different approach than paper and scissors, they actually build out custom storylines with claymation for their clients. What an incredible way to communicate your marketing message! Very cool… I’d like them to do a claymation of me as Mr. Heat Mizer.

Techpoint Presents Patronpath

I’ve reduced the size of the video a little to fit in my blog, so some of the graphics look a little distorted. You can see this full video at Techpoint’s Video Magazine.

This is a video done for Techpoint by Cantaloupe to showcase the 2008 Mira Award winners. This was an incredible achievement by Patronpath and provides some great insight into what we do and why we won the award. Great video and you even see me in it for a split second. :)

Honest Mac vs. Honest PC

My first attempt at animating a popular post I did early last year, an honest conversation between Mac and PC. GoAnimate is a neat application - though I ran into some trouble in the later frames, perhaps some memory issues with the browser, I’m not sure. Anyways, it came out half-decent (with 1 bad typo)!

What if Stop signs were designed by collaborating with the client? Hat tip to Faris.

Note: If they think collaborating on the design of an ad takes work, they should try collaborating on an enterprise application!
