According to new information from app store intelligence firm Sensor Tower, American consumers spent an average of $138 on iPhone apps last year, up 38 percent year-over-year, due to the impact of the pandemic. Games were the most prominent consumer spending category in 2017. Accounting for roughly $36 of the $58 spent per device, or 62 percent of the spending. That’s a 13 percent increase over $32 spent.
